Morinville looks ahead at first-ever State of Morinville event

Morinville’s future took centre stage June 11 as residents, business owners and
community
leaders gathered for the Town’s inaugural State of Morinville event, an evening
dedicated to
growth, community priorities and the vision guiding the town’s next chapter.
Held at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre, the event featured presentations
highlighting the Town’s vision for growth, key municipal priorities and the role residents
have played in shaping that direction.
Mayor Simon Boersma emphasized the importance of community input throughout the
planning process, noting that feedback gathered from residents helped shape both the
Town’s new Municipal Development Plan and its four-year Strategic Plan.
“The future is being shaped by the people who call it home,” was a recurring message
throughout the evening as attendees learned about initiatives intended to support
Morinville’s continued growth while maintaining the qualities that make the community
unique.
One of the key topics discussed was the recently adopted Municipal Development Plan,
a
long-term blueprint that will guide development over the coming decades. The plan
outlines
a vision for a growing community with more housing choices, expanded business
opportunities, improved connectivity and a vibrant downtown core.
The Town’s Strategic Plan was also highlighted, providing residents with an overview of
municipal priorities and the projects expected to shape Morinville in the coming years.
Throughout the evening, presenters spoke about balancing growth with community
character, supporting local businesses, enhancing public spaces and ensuring residents
have access to amenities and services closer to home.
Following the presentations, attendees had an opportunity to connect with municipal

officials, community members and local stakeholders while learning more about current
initiatives and future plans.
As the first event of its kind, the State of Morinville provided residents with an
opportunity
to reflect on how far the community has come while looking ahead to the opportunities
and
challenges that will shape its future. With major planning initiatives now in place, the
evening underscored a shared goal of ensuring Morinville continues to grow while
