Pembina renews 10-year sponsorship, extends free youth access at Morinville Leisure Centre

The Town of Morinville has renewed its long-standing partnership with Pembina Pipeline Corporation through a new 10-year sponsorship agreement that will continue to support key community programs and maintain naming rights for the Pembina Atrium at the Morinville Leisure Centre (MLC).

Opened in May 2019, the Morinville Leisure Centre is a modern facility offering a range of amenities including an NHL-sized arena, indoor track, field house, fitness centre, play space, and more. The Pembina Atrium serves as the heart of the facility, welcoming guests and connecting all areas of the centre.

The atrium will continue to carry the Pembina name, serving as a hub for residents and visitors alike. This renewed agreement strengthens the company’s ongoing relationship with the town and reinforces its commitment to supporting accessible, inclusive community spaces.

A major component of the sponsorship renewal is the continuation and expansion of Pembina Youth Activate, a program that offers free access to the MLC’s field house and fitness centre for youth aged 12 to 19. Every Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., young people can participate at no cost, helping to remove financial barriers to recreation and promote healthy, active lifestyles. Originally launched in the fall of 2023, the program has quickly become a key part of Morinville’s youth engagement efforts.

“Pembina Youth Activate has quickly become one of our most impactful youth programs,” said Teena Hughson, Community Engagement and Partnership Specialist with the Town of Morinville. “With expanded hours, we’re offering even more opportunities for youth to take part. Thanks to Pembina’s vision and generosity, more young people are getting active and forming positive habits that may last a lifetime.”

Pembina’s commitment to the community goes beyond recreation. Through this partnership, the company continues to invest in programs that support well-being, connection, and growth for youth and residents of all ages.

“At Pembina, we believe strong communities are built on connection, inclusion, and opportunities for everyone—particularly youth,” said Melanie Zademersky, Supervisor of Administration at Pembina’s Redwater facility. “The Morinville Leisure Centre plays a key role in bringing people together and supporting healthy, active lifestyles. We’re proud to continue our support of this vibrant community hub.”

The renewed sponsorship underscores Pembina’s continued investment in Morinville’s future and its role in helping youth and families lead healthy, engaged lives.
