By Shelley Winger

Morinville is preparing to welcome the holiday season in style as the annual Lite Up the Nite
Christmas Festival, proudly presented by Shoppers Drug Mart, returns for a full weekend of
festive fun from Friday, November 28 to Sunday, November 30. This year’s celebration
promises
to bring the community together with a wide range of activities suitable for all ages.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with the Lite Up the Nite Dance Party from 6:30 to
9:30 p.m., presented by McDonald’s. Residents are invited to kick off the holiday season by
enjoying music, dancing, and festive cheer in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. The dance
party will feature seasonal tunes and crowd favourites, offering the perfect opportunity for
families, friends, and neighbours to celebrate together.

Saturday is packed with activities for the entire family. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Festive
Family Festival, presented by FortisAlberta, will offer entertainment, crafts, and hands-on
activities designed to delight children and adults alike. Attendees can explore creative stations,
participate in interactive games and enjoy live performances throughout the day. At the same
time, the community is encouraged to contribute to the Fill-A-Bus Food Drive, supporting local
families in need this holiday season.

As evening approaches, visitors can enjoy free hot chocolate at 5 p.m., followed by the much-
anticipated Lite Up the Nite Parade at 5:30 p.m. The town will then officially light up for the
season during Lite Up the Park at 6 p.m., culminating with a spectacular fireworks display at
7:30 p.m. The combination of lights, music, and fireworks is sure to create magical memories for
attendees and provide the perfect backdrop for festive photos.

Sunday wraps up the weekend with the Flowpoint Fun Skate from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m., offering
families one last opportunity to enjoy outdoor winter fun before the festivities conclude. The
event encourages skaters of all ages and skill levels to join in, whether they’re taking their first

glide on the ice or showing off some practiced moves.

Throughout the weekend, the Old-Fashioned Christmas Market will operate, creating a cozy and
nostalgic shopping experience. Visitors can browse unique gifts, seasonal decorations, and
tasty
treats, making it an ideal stop for holiday shopping and a chance to support local vendors.

Organizers emphasize that Lite Up the Nite is more than just a festival—it’s a celebration of
community spirit and holiday cheer. With something for everyone, from families and friends to
seniors and newcomers, the event offers an opportunity to connect, celebrate, and share in the
joy
of the season. Residents are encouraged to dress warmly, bring their festive spirit, and immerse
themselves in the sights, sounds, and experiences that make Morinville’s holiday season so
special.
