Bon Accord’s Community Hall was filled with festive energy on Saturday, December 6, as
residents came out to enjoy this year’s Winter Wonder-Fest. The one-day celebration offered a
steady stream of activities, music, and holiday traditions that kept the hall busy from morning
until late afternoon.
Families started the day with Breakfast with Santa, a long-standing favourite that gave young
visitors the chance to meet Santa and share their wish lists. Throughout the day, the stage
featured performances by the Morinville Minstrels Choir, the Canadian Military Wives
Choir, and the Sturgeon Unity Singers, adding a warm musical backdrop to the event.
The Christmas Market drew plenty of attention as well, with vendors from Thorhild,
Edmonton, and nearby communities setting up tables stocked with seasonal goods, handmade
items, and unique local products.
A hearty Perogy Lunch brought people together at midday, after which the crowd settled in for
a lively round of Turkey Bingo. Children kept busy in the Kids Zone, where crafts, games, and
supervised activities ensured they had a space of their own to enjoy the festivities.
Promoted as a free family day, Winter Wonder-Fest delivered exactly that! It was an easygoing
community gathering filled with music, food, and simple holiday fun.
This year’s celebration once again highlighted Bon Accord’s strong community spirit and
offered residents a cheerful start to the holiday season.
