Alberta Culture Days took place in Morinville on Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Morinville Centennial Community Gardens on 104 Street.

The day’s event began with a land acknowledgement by Morinville Deputy Mayor Ray White and a cultural performance by Jingle Dancer Martina Aginas of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation and Alexander First Nation’s Kicking Horse Singers.

Other entertainment included musicians Ivy Mills and Riley Quinn, Dance Connection dancers, and art activities from the Morinville Art Club and Morinville Community Library.

One of the afternoon’s highlights was the Morinville Centennial Community Gardens’ watermelon eating contest. The junior category contest drew many competitors. The Gardens also held youth and adult contests later in the afternoon.

The event was a partnership between the Town of Morinville, Morinville Centennial Community Gardens, Morinville Art Club and Morinville Community Library.
