Students face off against first responders in friendly dodgeball game

In a thrilling and lighthearted event, students from Morinville Composite High School recently took on local first responders in a friendly dodgeball competition. The Morinville Fire Department, community peace officers, and RCMP teamed up to challenge the students in a fun-filled match, bringing together the community in a way that fostered both friendly rivalry and camaraderie.
The dodgeball event was part of the RCMP School Resource Officer program, which aims to strengthen relationships between students and local law enforcement. The program, led by Constable Tanner Wills, who works directly out of the high school, offers students the opportunity to engage with officers throughout the year in a variety of positive, interactive settings.
The dodgeball game was filled with excitement, as students and first responders dodged, ducked, and threw their way to victory. Spectators cheered from the sidelines, and both teams enjoyed some lighthearted moments as they went head-to-head in the spirit of friendly competition.
The friendly dodgeball match not only allowed students to have fun but also helped build a stronger sense of community between the youth and first responders. Events like this play a crucial role in bridging the gap between local law enforcement and the young people they serve, creating a more connected and supportive environment for all.
As the game came to an end, the smiles and laughter were a reminder of how a simple event like dodgeball can create lasting memories and positive relationships. The RCMP School Resource Officer program, with its emphasis on connection and community, continues to be a vital part of fostering positive engagement between students and the people who protect them.
