Morinville Legion hosts a movie night

In the evening on Saturday, August 27, Lisa Adams and her team of helpful volunteers hosted a family fun movie night for the community members in Morinville to enjoy. Due to the weather being too windy and cold, the movie night was showcased in the upper hall of the legion building at 10120 101 Avenue in Morinville.

Adams said, “The response from the community was awesome! We had over 40 guests show up for our first-time hosting, and many were under five!”

Chairs were quickly set up for guests, and children set up their blankets and pillows right front and centre to comfily enjoy the movies. As the event moved to the legion, guests were offered to purchase all sorts of goodies, like their favourite chocolate bars, chips, popcorn, pop, water and even hotdogs, and a full bar for all the adults bringing their children. One lucky attendee was excited as they walked away with $302. from the fifty-fifty draw offered on-site. The first movie played was Minions Rise of Gru, with children giggling, laughing, and having a blast with their friends and family. Jurassic World Dominion had everyone on the edges of their seats as dinosaurs flew and stomped across the screen and were filled with a ton of action. One dad said, “It’s nice to take the little one to a movie and not have to be silent the whole time such a great experience.”

Adams, Service Officer, said, “Unfortunately, the only night in August we had terrible weather was for our event, but it was amazing to see families out and enjoying the movies with their little ones! It was great to see young families, adults without children, and teens come and enjoy a night with us. Movie nights will be planned more often in the future!”
