“We’re having an open house because we want residents of Gibbons and the surrounding area to come and see what we have to offer for seniors,” said Barb LeRoy, Community Manager at Spruce View Manor on 49 Street in Gibbons.
The open house on April 30 is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can enjoy door prizes, food and live entertainment. The facility offers subsidized housing for seniors and has residents aged 65 up to 100.
“We want to show that this is an active community within Gibbons, and we want to showcase the lodge and all the activities we do,” said LeRoy. “Everyone can come for a tour and meet the staff, ask any questions they might have, and potentially we can get to our residency.”
According to the website, Spruce View Manor officially opened in 1978 and was renovated in 2000. The manor has 43 lodge units consisting of a bed/sitting area of 293 square feet and a separate, full bathroom.
There’s a spacious open common area with fireplace and games equipment, a hobby room, recreational area, library, hair salon, residents’ laundry room, central dining area and Jacuzzi bath assist tub.
“We have a dining room where we serve three meals a day,” said LeRoy. “And it’s served by a red seal chef, so our meals are high quality with great food. We have a lot of farm community agriculture people who have lived in small towns Gibbons for several years. And we like to keep that feeling for when they move here.”
