After a two-year absence, Morinville Festival Days will be back in full swing during the week of June 17 to 19. “Already, we can see there is great excitement and anticipation for what’s shaping up to be one the biggest festivals we have ever seen,” said Teena Hughson, Community Engagement & Partnership Specialist with the Town of Morinville.
So far, the Town has solid commitments from several local organizations that will host various fun events. The festivities commence on the evening of June 17 with a Drive-in Movie and Special Entertainment.
The big day is June 18, when people can enjoy several family activities. The cheers begin with the Annual Parade on 100 Avenue, followed by the Bumper to Bumper Show & Shine on 100 Street. The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation will host a Break Free Run. There will also be a Kiddie Commando Course and Children’s Pavilion and Activities at St. Jean Baptiste Park hosted by the Parish.
June 19 will see a Family Festival hosted by Fusion Canada and a Hot Sauce Competition hosted by the Rotary Club. The Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Farmers’ Market for all to enjoy.
“All this, plus so much more to come,” said Hughson. “As a group, we’re committed to finalizing the roster by the first week of April. This means now is the time to bring forward your ideas and skills to get involved.”
Hughson noted the usual parade organizer for Festival Days is taking a much-needed break. “So we need highly organized and passionate community-minded individual or group to take the lead on this festival component,” she said.
