The Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club was recently awarded a Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Small Grant from the Province of Alberta.
“Our club applied under the CFEP program for funding for assistance with replacement for our aging roof on clubhouse,” said General Manager
Mark Beckwith. “And we were fortunate enough to be awarded or funded for the work. It’s great news for our club,” he said, noting the club has operated in Sturgeon County area since 1960.
The Sturgeon Valley Golf Club is a well-known and popular venue for a variety of activities, and the CFEP will help operations. “It’s going to continue to allow us to enhance our facility and service areas,” said Beckwith. “So it’s great news for the club.”
The club’s CFEP application was for building improvement, specifically the roof on the clubhouse. “It’s aging and it’s getting to the end of its life span, and we identified it as needing a replacement,” said Beckwith. “We’re fortunate to receive the funding and hopefully we get it done this year.”
Part of the application process was providing price estimates from contractors capable of doing the job. The Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club is located north of Edmonton and east of St. Albert in Sturgeon County. The course borders the Sturgeon River on the northwest and Sturgeon Road on the southeast.
